Beyond Gen Alpha: What Comes Next? Meet Generation Gamma

We've all heard about Millennials, Gen Z, and the ever-present Gen Alpha. But as the years roll on, new generations are always on the horizon. Social researcher Mark McCrindle has been tracking these shifts, and while Gen Beta (born roughly between 2025 and 2039) is just starting to emerge, he's already looking ahead.

Following the alphabetical progression of Gen Alpha (named after the first letter of the Greek alphabet), the next logical step in this naming convention points us towards Generation Gamma. McCrindle predicts this cohort will be born between 2040 and 2054. Think of them as the children of Gen Beta, growing up in a world even more deeply intertwined with AI and automation than their predecessors.

Gen Beta, for instance, is expected to experience AI and automation seamlessly woven into every facet of life – from education and healthcare to entertainment. They're the offspring of younger Millennials and older Gen Zers, and by 2035, they're projected to make up a significant 16% of the global population. It's fascinating to consider how their upbringing, shaped by this technological immersion, will differ from ours.

Interestingly, even as technology advances, there's a growing awareness among parents about its impact. McCrindle notes that a higher percentage of Gen Z parents (36%) than Millennial parents (30%) strongly agree that children's screen time should be limited. This suggests a conscious effort to balance the digital and physical worlds for the younger generations.

So, while Gen Beta is still in its infancy, the generational tapestry continues to unfold. Generation Gamma, born in the mid-21st century, will inherit a world shaped by the experiences and innovations of those who came before. It's a continuous evolution, each generation building upon the last, navigating new frontiers of technology and society.
