Ever thought about having a whole movie theater to yourself? It sounds like a dream, right? Well, AMC is making that a reality with their Private Theatre Rentals, and it’s more accessible than you might think.
So, what’s the deal with booking your own private screening? It’s pretty straightforward. You can earn AMC Stubs points on your rental, which is a nice perk if you’re already a member. And for those of you who are Premiere or A-List members, you can even use your existing AMC Stubs rewards to offset the cost of your rental. If you’re an Insider, upgrading could be a smart move, as it lets you earn points faster and use rewards on these private bookings.
When you arrive, your group ticket gets scanned, and the auditorium is prepped and ready for you about 15 minutes before showtime. If someone’s running a bit late, just chat with a manager – they’re there to help smooth things over. And for those essential movie snacks? You can pick up your pre-ordered Party Packs or other goodies at the concession stand. Just a heads-up, though: outside food and drinks aren't allowed, but AMC’s own offerings are pretty extensive, and they’re always looking to add more.
Speaking of Party Packs, they’re a great way to save on snacks for your group, starting at around $32.49 plus tax. You can even order them online when you book your rental. They’ve got everything from classic combos to KidsPacks and even Pretzel Bites and Tenders & Fries.
Now, a couple of things to keep in mind. Your rental is pretty much set once booked; you can't change the movie or add more people directly to the booking. If you need to switch movies, you’ll have to request a refund and re-book. For extra guests, though, the theatre might be able to accommodate them for the price of a standard adult ticket, so it’s worth asking.
Cancellations or rescheduling? You can request a refund for cancellations, but rescheduling isn't an option. You’d need to cancel and then book a new rental. And if you’re looking to book for a specific date, keep in mind that rentals are usually programmed about 3-4 weeks in advance. If you don’t see anything available within that window, it’s a good idea to check with your local AMC to see if they’re participating.
One thing to note is that tables aren't available during private rentals due to safety protocols. Also, while you can’t display a custom welcome slide or video yourself, the pre-show and trailers will still run for about 20 minutes before your movie starts, giving everyone a chance to settle in.
It’s a fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion, have a unique team-building event, or just enjoy a movie night with friends and family without the usual crowds. It really transforms the movie-going experience into something truly personal and memorable.
