Victoria: The Enigmatic Maid of Black Souls

In the shadowy, fairy-tale-inspired RPG world of Black Souls, certain characters leave an indelible mark, and Victoria, the maid, is certainly one of them. She's not just a fleeting NPC; she's a pivotal figure whose presence, and often her peculiar nature, can dramatically alter the player's journey.

First encountered in the original Black Souls, Victoria is found hiding in a small room within the boss area of the 'True Home.' She's a trembling, pink-haired maid, clearly terrified and desperate. Her initial plea is for a thousand souls, explaining her fear of becoming a monster without them. It's a moment that tugs at your heartstrings, a classic fairy tale trope twisted into something darker.

But as is often the case in Black Souls, things aren't as simple as they seem. If you ignore her plea or leave the area and return, you might find her tragic end – a suicide, leaving behind only her corpse. Even if you manage to defeat the boss before dealing with her, a hasty exit can lead to the same grim outcome. The game certainly doesn't shy away from showing the consequences of inaction or missteps.

However, if you choose to help her, a rather steep price is paid. You end up losing a staggering five thousand souls, a significant blow to any player. As compensation, Victoria pledges her service, becoming your maid and joining your party. This is where her true, more complex nature begins to reveal itself. It turns out Victoria has a bit of succubus blood in her, a fact that leads to a forced battle when you both enter the Poseidon Inn for the second time – she transforms, a stark reminder of her hidden power.

Her personal endings are as varied as they are unsettling. In one, she becomes your devoted maid, living a life of 'happiness' that seems to involve a rather one-sided extraction of your soul. In a more extreme, special ending, her succubus nature takes over completely. She attempts to consume you, only to be defeated and… well, the details are rather gruesome, involving her head being taken into your bedroom for continued 'service.' It's a dark, twisted take on loyalty and servitude.

Moving to Black Souls II, Victoria reappears, this time in a dilapidated train station, claiming to be a dismissed maid and asserting she's never met you before. This initial encounter is disarming, but it quickly escalates. When you agree to hold her hand, she takes the opportunity to push you down, a move that embarrasses Hein, who is revealed to be her superior succubus. The encounter culminates in her devouring your heart, accompanied by a rather memorable 'face-changing' CG, leading to your death. Upon your revival, her reaction is… well, let's just say it's not one of remorse.

Victoria's story is a fascinating exploration of desperation, hidden power, and the darker side of fairy tales. She's a character who can be a loyal companion or a dangerous entity, depending on your choices and her own evolving nature. Her presence adds a layer of intrigue and moral ambiguity to the Black Souls series, making her a memorable part of its gothic charm.
