Ever found yourself staring at a screen, wondering, "Wait, what is my phone number?" It's a surprisingly common question, especially when you're juggling multiple lines or managing business accounts. If you're using a service like Sonetel, finding and understanding your phone numbers is actually quite straightforward, and it all starts with a little icon in the corner.
Navigating to Your Numbers
Think of your phone numbers as your digital storefronts or personal lines of communication. To see them all laid out, you'll want to head over to the "Phone numbers" page. The easiest way to get there is by clicking on the Settings icon, usually found in the bottom left of your screen. From the menu that pops up, select "Telephony." This action will whisk you away to the dedicated page where all your numbers reside.
Taming a Crowd of Numbers
Now, if you're someone who has a few numbers – perhaps for different projects, locations, or even just personal use – you might feel a bit overwhelmed. Don't worry, there's a handy Search function right above the list. You can type in a country, a city name, or even a partial number to quickly pinpoint the one you're looking for. It’s like having a personal assistant for your phone lines.
Diving Deeper: Number Settings
Clicking on any specific number in the list opens up a world of options on the right-hand side. While the exact settings can vary a bit, two sections are almost always there: "Number details" and "Call forwarding." These are your command center for each individual number.
Number Details: The Nitty-Gritty
Under "Number details," you'll find the essential information about your subscription and any associated costs. This is where you can see what you're paying for and when your next payment is due. You can even Renew your subscription here, choosing from different cycles or deciding to cancel it altogether if a number is no longer needed. It’s good to know the price of having that number, whether it’s a monthly fee or, if you're on a premium plan, potentially free. You'll also see the cost per minute for incoming calls, which is particularly relevant for toll-free numbers.
Call Forwarding: Directing the Flow
This is where things get really interesting. Call forwarding allows you to decide where your calls go. You can send them to another User within your team, a dedicated Team queue (coming soon!), or even a completely different Phone number anywhere in the world. For the more technically inclined, a Voice app (for announcements or voicemails) or a SIP-address are also options. What's neat is you can also choose what number shows up on the receiving end – the caller's original number or the Sonetel number they dialed. Just a heads-up, forwarding to a Voice app usually requires a paid plan.
Recording and Transcription: Capturing Conversations
If your business requires it, you can also enable call recording. You have options here: disable it entirely, record all calls (inbound and outbound), or just incoming or outbound calls specifically. These recorded calls are then stored for easy access.
Ultimately, managing your phone numbers is about control and clarity. Whether you're looking for a specific line or setting up how calls are handled, these tools are designed to make it as intuitive as possible.
