It’s hard to believe, but 2026 marks a significant milestone for the class of 2001 – your 25-year class reunion! This isn't just any anniversary; it's a silver one, a perfect opportunity to step back onto campus and relive those formative engineering student days.
Imagine walking through the familiar halls, perhaps a little different now, but still echoing with memories. This reunion is an open invitation to reconnect with classmates, those professors who challenged and inspired you, and the faculty who shaped your academic journey. It’s also a chance to see how the university has evolved, to meet the current generation of students, and to get a feel for what student life is like today.
The day kicks off on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with the Engineering Reunion Headquarters and Open House from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the Atrium of the Pearl Sullivan Engineering building. Think of it as your central hub for everything reunion-related: grab your name badge, pick up a campus map, get the latest event info, and enjoy some refreshments. It’s also where you can mingle with alumni from a whole range of graduating years, from 1966 all the way to 2021. You’ll have the chance to meet the Dean of Engineering and EngSoc executives, and for those who need it, Camp 15 Iron Ring Wardens will be there to help replace your Iron Ring. And for the younger attendees? Engineering Science Quest (ESQ) will be on hand with fun, educational activities to keep the kids entertained. Don't forget to check out the pop-up Novelties Store for some EngSoc souvenirs and to meet The Toolbearers – and maybe even snap a photo with The Tool!
Kicking off the intellectual side of the day, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, is the Reunion Lecture with the Dean of Engineering, Professor Mary Wells, in Rooms 3101 & 3102 of Engineering 5. She'll be sharing a visionary look at the future of engineering at the university, followed by a Q&A. For those who can't make it in person, good news! This lecture will be recorded and made available virtually after the reunion.
Following that, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, dive into the world of cutting-edge research with the Engineering Research Talks, also in Engineering 5. Five-minute presentations from faculty members will highlight the university's commitment to tackling global challenges through research in societal, health, technological, sustainable, and economic futures. It’s a fascinating glimpse into how the university is shaping the world, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions. Again, virtual attendance options are available for this session too.
As midday approaches, it’s time to refuel and relax. The BBQ Lunch & Patio Party runs from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM outside the Pearl Sullivan Engineering Building. This is your chance for some casual catch-up time with classmates, perhaps over a cheeseburger, pulled pork, or chicken sandwich, with all the fixings and a side salad. Patio games and a cash bar will keep the good times rolling until 4:00 PM. It’s a perfect setting to reminisce and share stories.
And for a truly unique experience, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, you can get behind the controls of an ALSIM AL250 flight simulator in AVRIL. Guided by aeronautical research coordinator Rafael Pastorin Repato, you’ll get a 45-minute taste of what it’s like to be an aviation student. These sessions are designed for one person but can be shared, and participants must be 15 or older (observers are welcome). Just remember to arrive on time and bring a clean pair of shoes!
This 25-year reunion is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of shared history, personal growth, and the enduring connections forged during your time as engineering students. We hope to see you there!
