Setting Your Ringtone on iPhone: A Step-by-Step Guide

Changing your ringtone on an iPhone is a simple yet personal way to express yourself. Whether you want to hear your favorite song or a classic tone when someone calls, customizing this feature can make every incoming call feel special.

To start, unlock your iPhone and navigate to the Settings app—it's that gear icon that everyone knows so well. Once you're in Settings, scroll down until you find 'Sounds & Haptics.' Tap it, and you'll see various sound options for different notifications.

Now, look for 'Ringtone' at the top of the list. When you tap on it, you'll be greeted with a selection of pre-installed ringtones as well as any custom tones you've added through apps like GarageBand or purchased from the iTunes Store. If you're feeling adventurous and want something unique, consider purchasing new ringtones directly from Apple’s store by tapping ‘Tone Store’ at the top right corner.

As you browse through available options, simply tap on each one to preview how it sounds. Once you've found one that resonates with you (pun intended), just tap it again to select it as your default ringtone. You’ll notice a checkmark appear next to your chosen tone—it’s now officially yours!

But what if you'd like more than just standard ringtones? With recent updates in iOS 26 and beyond, users can also create their own custom ringtones using songs stored in their music library or even record audio clips directly within certain apps! To do this:

  1. Open GarageBand (or another audio editing app).
  2. Import the song or record your voice clip.
  3. Trim it down to about 30 seconds—the ideal length for most ringtones.
  4. Export this track back into settings under 'Ringtone'.
  5. Follow similar steps above once it's saved!

And there you have it! Now whenever someone calls you—or perhaps texts—you'll know exactly who’s reaching out without even looking at your screen.
