Navigating University Scholarships in Valencia: Your Guide to the 2025-2026 Academic Year

Thinking about pursuing your university studies in the vibrant Comunidad Valenciana for the 2025-2026 academic year? If so, you'll want to know about the scholarship opportunities available. The Generalitat Valenciana, through its Directorate General of Universities, has announced its call for scholarships, offering a helping hand to students aiming for official university degrees.

What's on Offer?

These scholarships are designed to cover the cost of tuition fees for undergraduate (grado) and master's degrees within the Valencian University System. This includes studies adapted to the European Higher Education Area. Importantly, the scholarship applies to credits you're enrolled in for the first or second time. It's a great way to ease the financial burden, especially for those pursuing foundational or advanced university qualifications.

Who Can Apply?

There are a few key requirements to keep in mind. Firstly, you'll need to hold Spanish nationality or be a citizen of a European Union member state. For EU citizens and their families, specific residency requirements might differ, but generally, you'll need to be exercising your rights of free movement and residence. If you're a non-EU national, the regulations regarding foreigners in Spain will apply, and you must not be in a 'stay' situation. Crucially, you must have been administratively resident in any municipality within the Comunidad Valenciana by the application deadline and maintain this residency throughout the academic year. You also need to be enrolled in an official university degree program at a university within the Valencian System and not already possess a degree of the same or a higher level. Specific economic and academic criteria will also be detailed in the full resolution.

Important Dates to Remember

Mark your calendars! The application window opens on February 10, 2026, and closes on March 9, 2026. Missing this period means missing out on this academic year's support, so be sure to get your applications in on time.

How to Apply

Everything is handled electronically. You'll need to submit your application through the GVA's online processing platform. Once you've filled out the digital form, you'll sign it using an accepted electronic signature system and submit it through the electronic headquarters. It's a streamlined process designed for convenience.

What's Not Covered?

It's also good to know what falls outside the scope of these scholarships. They do not cover third-cycle (doctoral) studies, specialization courses, or university-specific (títulos propios) qualifications. Additionally, credits that exceed the minimum required for your degree, or those arising from study adaptations, recognitions, or convalidations, won't be included in the scholarship coverage. Any existing exemptions or discounts you might already be entitled to will also be separate from this scholarship amount.

This initiative by the Valencian government is a significant step towards making higher education more accessible. If you meet the criteria and are planning your academic future in Valencia, this scholarship could be a valuable resource.
