Navigating UNF Commencement: Your Guide to Lot 18 and Beyond

As the excitement builds for Spring 2026 commencement at UNF, a common question pops up: where to park? For many, the answer is Lot 18. It's good to know that this particular lot offers free parking, which is always a welcome bit of news when you're juggling tickets, outfits, and the general buzz of graduation day.

But parking is just the first step, isn't it? From Lot 18, you'll find ADA-accessible shuttles ready to whisk you and your guests over to the UNF Arena, building 34. These shuttles run regularly, so you won't be left waiting in the sun (or rain, depending on Florida's mood!). The Arena doors themselves swing open an hour before the ceremony begins. Graduates, remember to check in at the Field House, building 26 – that's your cue to get ready for the big moment.

Now, about seating. It's a first-come, first-served situation for guests, and ushers are on hand to help guide everyone. If you or someone in your party has mobility, auditory, or visual limitations, don't worry. There are designated seating areas, and ADA ushers at the Arena entrance will make sure you're directed to the best spots. Just a heads-up: guests can't enter the students' seating area, and latecomers will need to wait until the processional is complete before being seated. Patience is key, and it ensures everyone gets to witness the full ceremony.

For those who can't be there in person, the good news is that all ceremonies are live-streamed on YouTube, complete with chyrons and captions. You can also access the digital program via QR codes around the Arena or by visiting the homepage. Each ceremony is expected to run between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. Graduates will receive a diploma cover on stage, with the actual diploma arriving by mail about a month later. And for those regalia, there's a free shipping option to send it back within a week.

Tickets are a must for everyone entering the UNF Arena, whether printed or on your mobile device. Children aged four and under don't need a ticket, but if a child is in a car seat or carrier, they will need a ticket as the carrier occupies a seat. Speaking of little ones, while strollers and car seats are allowed, they can't be taken into the upper and lower-level seating areas, so it's best to leave them at home if possible.

When it comes to photos, Flash Photography will be capturing individual graduate shots, and StageClip will have videos of stage crossings. Guests are encouraged to take photos, but from their seats or two designated spots on the upper level. Please be mindful of others and avoid standing along the walkway on the second level – it's a safety measure to ensure everyone has a clear view.

Safety and security are also top priorities. Everyone will go through metal detectors, and to speed things up, it's recommended to avoid large bags unless medically necessary. Clear, gallon-size bags are permitted, and all bags are subject to search. Arriving early is always a good idea, as doors close ten minutes before the ceremony starts.

For accessibility, graduates needing accommodations should email commencement@unf.edu at least two weeks prior. Deaf and hard-of-hearing guests will find a designated section with an unobstructed view of an ASL interpreter. Guests with limited mobility should notify an usher for ADA seating, with some limited wheelchair spots on the floor. The Arena's jumbo-tron will display the ceremony with open captions, name displays, and picture-in-picture of the ASL interpreter. And yes, those ADA-accessible shuttles from Lot 18 are a key part of making sure everyone can get there comfortably.

Finally, a quick rundown of prohibited items: think firearms, weapons, replicas, tasers, pepper spray, smoking/vaping, pets (unless service animals), large signs, noisemakers, drones, laser pointers, unapproved pamphlets, and skateboards. Permitted items include clear bags up to 12” x 6” x 12”, a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag, diaper/baby bags, and small clutch bags (no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”).
