Stepping onto a college campus for the first time is a whirlwind of new experiences, and for many, joining a sorority is a significant part of that journey. Panhellenic recruitment, especially as we look towards Fall 2025, is designed to be your friendly guide through this exciting process. Think of it as an open invitation to explore, connect, and discover what sorority life at the University of Arkansas might hold for you.
It's important to remember that participating in recruitment isn't a commitment to join; it's an opportunity. An opportunity to meet current chapter members, to chat with fellow students who are also exploring their options, and to learn firsthand about the unique offerings of each sorority. Throughout it all, you'll have Recruitment Counselors, often called Gamma Chi's, ready to answer any questions that pop into your head. They're there to make sure you feel supported and informed, turning what could be an overwhelming process into a positive, fun, and enriching experience for everyone involved.
Getting ready for recruitment involves a bit of planning, and the university has laid out a clear schedule. For Fall 2025, early move-in dates are set for Wednesday, August 6th, with additional times available on Thursday, August 7th, and Friday, August 8th. If you opt for the earliest move-in on August 6th, there's a $35 charge, which is separate from the recruitment registration fee and will be billed to your student account. The university housing team will be in touch via email starting June 17th, allowing you to select your arrival time. A crucial note here: if you're participating in sorority recruitment, make sure you use the dedicated Sorority Recruitment Arrival Time selection process, not the general one. This ensures you're all set for move-in before the recruitment events kick off on the evening of August 8th.
The main recruitment period runs from August 8th to August 16th, culminating in Bid Day on August 16th at the Greek Theater, starting at 10:00 a.m. It's a week packed with opportunities to connect and learn.
Ready to dive in? Registration is key, and it's important to use your UARK email address. The process itself is quite thorough, taking about 30-45 minutes to complete, and you can only register once. So, take your time and ensure all your information is accurate. You'll need a laptop or desktop and the Chrome browser to complete the application in one sitting – it can't be saved and returned to later.
What will you need? A resume is highly recommended, as chapter members will focus on it. It's a chance to showcase your extracurriculars, honors, community service, and work experience. It's a good idea to have your resume handy and even upload a PDF copy. You'll also need your high school transcript or a recent grade report, a recent headshot (think senior pictures!), and your t-shirt size. Be prepared for a non-refundable registration fee, payable by debit or credit card.
And then there's the essay. For 2025, you'll be asked to address six specific questions in a Word Document, with a limit of 350 words per question. This is your space to share your aspirations, your organizational skills, your strengths, your vision for making a difference, and your leadership experiences. Remember to include your name and hometown in the top right corner. It's a chance to let your personality and your thoughtful reflections shine through.
Panhellenic recruitment is more than just a series of events; it's a carefully designed experience to help you find your place, build lasting friendships, and discover opportunities for personal growth within the Greek community. It’s about finding a home away from home.
