Navigating Citizens Bank Park: Your Guide to Smoother Entrances

Heading to Citizens Bank Park for a Phillies game? It's always exciting to plan your visit, and knowing a few things about getting in can make your game day experience even better. The team is always looking for ways to streamline things, especially as the season gets underway.

One of the biggest shifts you'll notice is how tickets and parking are handled. Forget paper tickets; everything is mobile now, delivered through the free MLB Ballpark app. So, before you even leave home, make sure you've downloaded the app and logged in using the email address associated with your ticket purchase. It’s a good idea to check your account within the app to ensure all your tickets are there and looking as they should. And here’s a crucial tip: have those mobile ticket barcodes ready on your phone before you get to the security line. Screenshots won't cut it, so forwarding tickets to others in your group is a smart move to speed things up for everyone.

When it comes to bags, the park has a pretty specific policy aimed at getting you inside faster. They're asking guests to leave non-clear bags, like backpacks and drawstring bags, at home or in their cars. What is allowed includes clutch purses or fanny packs (no bigger than 5" x 7"), clear bags (up to 12" x 6" x 12"), and essential medical or diaper bags. If you do bring a prohibited item, you can either return it to your vehicle or use lockers available on Yawkey Way for a small fee. All bags are subject to inspection, of course.

Now, for the really exciting part: getting through the gates. Citizens Bank Park is rolling out "MLB Go-Ahead Entry" lanes at the First Base, Third Base, and Left Field gates. This is pretty neat technology that uses AI to let fans 18 and older walk right through security without needing to stop and empty your pockets. To use these lanes, you just need to register within the MLB Ballpark app, and all your tickets linked to your account will be automatically enrolled. This means no more fumbling with phones, cameras, coins, or keys for screening – it’s designed to be a hands-free, super-fast way to enter. Just make sure your tickets are ready on your phone as you approach the gate.

All gates typically open two and a half hours before the scheduled first pitch. Your ticket will usually indicate a specific gate, often the one closest to your seats, which can help you navigate efficiently. Remember, parking is cashless, so have your credit/debit card or mobile payment ready. And for those who enjoy tailgating, it's permitted in specific lots (A-H, M, & N) which open earlier than the general parking areas. Just have your mobile parking pass loaded and ready to show the attendant.

Inside the park, all concession and merchandise purchases are also cashless. If you're carrying cash, don't worry – they have "Reverse ATMs" where you can convert your cash into a prepaid debit card that works throughout the ballpark and beyond.
