Moving Day? Here's How to Update Your Home Address on Google Maps for Android

So, you've packed up the boxes, wrestled with the furniture, and finally settled into your new digs. Congratulations! Now comes the slightly less exciting, but equally important, task of updating your digital life. One of the most common things we do is tell Google Maps where 'home' is, and if you've recently moved, that old address just won't cut it anymore.

Thankfully, Google Maps on Android makes this a pretty straightforward process. It’s designed to save you the daily hassle of typing out your address every single time you want to navigate back to your sanctuary. Let's get that new home address set up.

The Simple Steps to Update Your Home Address

First things first, open up the Google Maps app on your Android device. You'll want to tap on your profile icon, which is usually tucked away in the top right corner of the screen. From there, a menu will pop up. Look for 'Settings' and tap on it.

Once you're in the Settings menu, you'll see an option labeled 'Edit home or work.' Give that a tap. This is where the magic happens. You'll see your current 'Home' address listed. To the right of it, you should spot a three-dot icon. Tap that.

Now, you'll have a few choices. Select 'Edit home.' At this point, Google Maps will likely show you a map. You can either drag the map pointer to your new home's exact location, or if you're physically at your new place, you can tap the 'your location' button (it looks like a little target or a dot). This will automatically pinpoint your current spot.

Once you've got the map pointer exactly where you want it, or your current location is selected, you'll need to verify the address. Make sure it's correct. When you're happy with it, just tap 'Done' at the top. And voilà! Your home address in Google Maps is now updated. Easy peasy, right?
