After installing Windows 7, the method for installing UG 4.0 is similar to that used in Vista, as follows: Currently, UG 4.0 is not compatible with Vista! However, we can run UG on Vista using some workarounds.
- Save a backup of your NX 4.0 license file.
- Open the installation disc and locate the nx040_21 folder; click setup and install it as an administrator—choose your own installation partition.
- Find the ugnxflexlm 4.0 folder on the disc; click setup to install the license certificate as an administrator. When you see a failure message halfway through, you can exit the installation at this point.
- Check your installation partition for two folders within UGS: one named NX4.0 and another named License Servers. If both exist, navigate into License Servers → UGNXFLEXlm where there should be only one license file—this means you're almost done!
- Copy all files from UGS → NX4.0 → UGFLEXLM into UGS → License Servers → UGNXFLEXlm folder.
- Go back to UGS → License Servers → UGNXFLEXlm and open lmtools server: Click Config Services for manual settings:
- Path to lmgrd.exe file: D:\UGS\License Servers\UGNXFLEXlm\lmgrd.exe
- Path to lmgrd file: D:\UGS\License Servers\UGNXFLEXlm\ugnx3.lic
- Path to debug log file: D:\UGS\License Servers\UGNXFLEXlm\ugflexlm.log (If this log does not exist in that directory, copy it from another machine where UG is installed) After completing these settings, click Save Service button to save changes and restart.
- Make sure you restart; otherwise, you'll encounter error '-15'. 8.Open UGS→License Servers→UGNXFLEXlm again; go back into lmtools server: Click Start/Stop/Reread for manual configuration until 'Server Start Successful' appears in the dialog box below. 9.Navigate back to UGS→NX4.O→UGII and find ugraf icon; send this icon to desktop as a shortcut renaming it NX4.O . 10.Clicking on NX4.O will allow smooth operation of NX 4.O software now. 11.Finally go start menu > All Programs > delete the NX 4.O folder if needed. Important notes: a) Always install as an administrator.b) Disable any firewall blocking during installation.
