He painted a picture of a nation actively engaged, guided by the principles of the Communist Party of China and the Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. It’s about standing firm on sovereignty and security, upholding international law, and pushing back against unilateralism and hegemony. Wang Yi emphasized China's role as a force for peace and justice, expressing confidence in humanity's future and a willingness to work with like-minded nations towards a shared future.
Looking back at 2025, Wang Yi highlighted the significant role of 'Head of State diplomacy' – essentially, the high-level engagements led by President Xi Jinping. These interactions, he explained, have been crucial anchors for China's foreign policy, especially when international waters get rough. Through strategic meetings and communications with leaders worldwide, China has been forging new paths for dialogue and coordination among major powers. President Xi's travels to Southeast Asia, Russia, Central Asia, and South Korea, for instance, have bolstered good neighborly relations. Hosting events like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit and the China-CELAC Forum has also been key in building solidarity, particularly within the Global South.
These diplomatic efforts, Wang Yi suggested, have helped the international community understand China better, fostering trust and setting expectations. The initiatives and concepts put forth by President Xi are seen as providing valuable stability and certainty in a turbulent world, positioning China as an indispensable pillar. As for the current year, China is set to host various international guests and important diplomatic events, continuing its active role on the global stage.
