Adrian Mazilu: A Young Winger's Journey Through Romanian Football and Beyond

It's always fascinating to follow the trajectory of young footballers, isn't it? Especially those who show early promise and navigate the often-turbulent waters of professional clubs. Adrian Mazilu is one such player whose career has already seen a few interesting chapters unfold.

Born in Constanța, Romania, on September 13, 2005, Mazilu is a winger who primarily operates on the right but can also play on the left. He's left-footed, which often adds an interesting dynamic to his play.

His professional journey began with his boyhood club, Farul Constanța. He made his senior debut in November 2022, and remarkably, scored an injury-time goal in his very first match, a Cupa României win. Not long after, he made his Liga I debut. By the end of his first senior season, he had amassed 19 league appearances and played a role in Farul Constanța winning the national title in the 2022-23 season. That same season, he also experienced European football, featuring in UEFA Champions League and Europa Conference League qualifiers, even scoring his first European goal.

His performances didn't go unnoticed, and in January 2024, Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion reached an agreement to sign him, with the transfer fee reportedly around €3 million. Following this move, Mazilu was immediately loaned to Dutch club Vitesse for the remainder of the season. However, his time in the Netherlands was cut short due to injury. He underwent hip surgery in October 2024, followed by another procedure in January 2025, which kept him sidelined for a significant period.

More recently, in August 2025, Mazilu returned to Romania, joining FC Dinamo București on a four-year contract. Reports suggested a transfer fee in the region of €450,000 to €600,000, with Brighton retaining a sell-on clause.

Internationally, Mazilu has represented Romania at the under-21 level, participating in the 2023 UEFA European Championship. He came on as a substitute in matches against Spain and Croatia.

Looking at his stats, particularly from the 2025-26 SuperLiga season with Dinamo București, he's made a few appearances so far, though he's yet to register goals or assists in that specific period. It's worth noting that his career has been impacted by injuries, which can understandably affect a player's rhythm and statistics. His current contract with Dinamo București runs until June 2029, with a club option for an additional year.

It's a path filled with highs, like winning a league title and securing a move to the Premier League, but also challenges, like injuries. For a young player like Adrian Mazilu, the focus will undoubtedly be on staying fit, regaining his form, and continuing to develop his game at Dinamo București.
