Unlocking Scizor in Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Your Guide to Catching the Steel Bug

Ah, Scizor. That iconic Bug/Steel-type Pokémon, a fan favorite for sure, making its grand return in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. If you're like me, you've probably been itching to add this formidable evolution to your Pokédex. And while its pre-evolution, Scyther, is readily available, getting to Scizor involves a bit of a quest.

First things first, you'll need to get your hands on a Scyther. This isn't exactly a walk in the park in Lumiose City. According to what I've gathered, Scyther tends to hang out in Wild Zone 13, but only when the moon is high – that's during the night. Now, Wild Zone 13 isn't exactly the most peaceful place. There's an Alpha Trevenant lurking about, which can make things a tad… challenging. So, your best bet is to either try and sneak your way over to where Scyther is, or perhaps take on that Alpha Trevenant first. It's a bit of a risk, but hey, that's part of the adventure, right?

Once you've successfully caught yourself a Scyther, the next step is to evolve it. This is where things get interesting. While the reference material doesn't explicitly detail the evolution method for Scizor in Legends: Z-A, we can infer from past games and general Pokémon mechanics. Typically, Scyther evolves into Scizor when traded while holding a Metal Coat. It's highly probable that this classic method will be the key in Legends: Z-A as well. So, keep an eye out for a Metal Coat item as you explore Lumiose City and its surrounding wild zones. It might be found in shops, dropped by certain Pokémon, or hidden in specific locations.

It's worth noting that Kleavor, Scyther's other Bug/Rock-type evolution, doesn't seem to be making an appearance in this particular installment. A bit of a shame for those who favored that evolution, but perhaps we'll see it in future DLC. For now, our focus is on the sleek, metallic Scizor.

So, to recap: find a Scyther in Wild Zone 13 at night (mind the Alpha Trevenant!), and then, most likely, trade it while it's holding a Metal Coat. It’s a journey, for sure, but the reward of adding Scizor to your team is definitely worth the effort. Happy hunting!
